Satomi Sugiue

Satomi founded TEMARIMO in 2022 in Vancouver, and has been running workshops and participating in craft markets in the Vernon area for the past six months. At TEMARIMO, workshops are more than just a craft class — they are a space where participants learn the history and techniques of temari while becoming part of a warm, welcoming community. Satomi designs every workshop so that participants feel a sense of belonging and can connect with each other in a friendly, relaxed atmosphere. TEMARIMO is also rooted in a commitment to the earth. Materials are chosen with sustainability in mind — natural, biodegradable fibres that can return to the earth. Creativity is celebrated within that foundation, and participants are encouraged to make each piece truly their own. Temari itself carries a beautiful intention: the round shape symbolizes a wish for life to roll forward smoothly and joyfully. Satomi brings that spirit into every class — hoping each participant leaves with not just a handmade treasure, but a little extra joy for the journey ahead.
