Print the Town: Landscape, Seascape & Garden Collage

spm #1
spm #2
spm #3
In this workshop, students will create a vibrant landscape, seascape, or garden scene using a unique combination of gel plate printing and collage — no prior experience required. Using brayers, stencils, masks, rollers, and mark-making tools, students will pull richly textured, colourful prints from a gel plate to use as the raw material for their collage. A personal photo or sketch — a favourite travel scene, a local landmark, a place they love — will guide their composition and make the work distinctly their own. From there, the printed papers are cut into shapes and built up into a landscape, with paint, markers, or coloured pencils added to bring the finished piece to life. This workshop is suited to all skill levels. Whether students are practicing artists looking to explore a new printmaking process, or complete beginners curious about making art for the first time, they will leave with a finished collage and a set of techniques they can continue using long after the workshop is done.
